How sad !
He was a lovely guy. I once spoke to him over the phone, long distance (from Scotland) to ask him the best way to cut into and mount a soapbar P90 pickup into my NRP Radiotone Bendaway. He was gracious enough to spend time giving me great tips on the best way to do it, and not sound like he had better things to do, even though he probably did !!
RIP Don Young !

No!!! Absolutely gutted ~ I spoke to Don a couple of times on the phone & his laid-back, friendly American 'drawl' was always welcoming - like talking to an old friend...
Thoughts go out to Don's family ~ R.I.P buddy...
Ian.

After the passing of my good friend Franta Javurek from Amistar (2013): Don Young. We lost a great one again. Our world is a little emptier and the next a little fuller. Bon voyage Don.

From National's website:
DON YOUNG In Memory of Donald Young (May 8, 1953 - June 15, 2016) The world lost a kind and generous man last night with the passing of National’s co-founder, Don Young. As a musician and resonator guitar aficionado, Don enjoyed sharing his knowledge of resonator history with friends and co-workers. He will be greatly missed by all those lucky enough to have known him. His trademark engineer’s cap symbolized his love of trains. In 2014, Don retired from National Reso-Phonic Guitars but continued his passion for musical instruments by opening Don’s String Shop in Los Osos, Ca. He is survived by his wife and three daughters. Our hearts are with them.

Five years ago this week, Don gave my son and I a personal tour of the factory... He was a gracious and generous host. I recently was in email touch with him and he was as friendly and helpful as ever. Very sad news. Such a good man taken way too soon.
